    COMPASS

    COMPASS is an online application for Pennsylvanians to apply for health and human services programs. The application includes Health Care benefits such as Medical Assistance, CHIP, and Medicaid for Former Foster Care Youth. The application also includes Home and Community Based Services Referrals such as Early Intervention Services, Intellectual Disability Services, and Autism Services. Additionally, COMPASS includes Home and Community Based Living Services, Cash Assistance, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), SNAP (food stamps), and other benefits.

The services include: health insurance counseling for Medicare recipients, home delivered meals, investigations of abuse, neglect, exploitation or abandonment of older adults, long-term care services, nursing home transition services, and casework services.     PA Law Project

    The PA Health Law Project works to ensure everyone has access to health care. Outside of advocating for the right to health care, the Law Project provides free legal services to any low-income resident of Pennsylvania having difficulty accessing publicly funded health care, whose health care has been terminated or reduced, or who have been denied Medicare (or similar health care programming). Additionally, the Law Project helps eligible residents apply for Medicare, responds to issues of denial of service (i.e. for prescriptions), and anyone struggling with their health care costs. The only requirement is income related, otherwise, the program is nondiscriminatory - there is a helpline which can be utilized for base information by anyone, regardless of income.     Please bring the following documents with you to your eligibility appointment: *Proof of your address (i.e. a current electric or telephone bill) *Photo ID (Driver’s license, passport, other government issued ID) *W – 2 Form for the most recent tax year. *Copy of the last year’s tax return or Letter of Extension. *Proof of household gross income for ALL household members for the recent month (i.e. pay stubs, bank statements, proof of income due to disability, unemployment, child support, etc.)

    Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) serves and advocates for the medically underserved living or working in Centre County. CVIM provides medical and dental care, case management and necessary medications at no cost to qualified uninsured and under-insured residents of Centre County and those working in Centre County who live in neighboring counties that do not have free clinics or programs to meet their medical needs. To qualify for care with us: *You must be living or working in Centre County for at least 7 days. *You must NOT have insurance for the services for which you are applying (This includes Adult Basic, Access Card/Medicaid, Medicare, Veterans Benefits). *You must meet income guidelines. Residents must have a household income at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Peerstar's in-jail program includes re-entry planning and evidence-based Citizenship Group classes to assist individuals in returning to the community and breaking the cycle of re-incarceration.     The FaithCentre Food Bank provides fresh food items to greater Bellefonte area residents. Individuals living in the area who meet the income guidelines can register for a free monthly food distribution of fresh produce (when in season), dairy products, fresh and frozen meat, food for individuals with diabetes, bread and pastries, canned and frozen vegetables, and personal care products like toothpaste and soap. Emergency food distribution is available to anyone, regardless of geographic location, on Monday and Tuesday from 10:00am-12:00pm. Regular food distribution is on Wednesday from 10:00am-2:00pm and Thursday from 1:00pm-5:00pm.
