    Highlands Health

    The mission of Highlands Health is to provide free medical and pharmaceutical care to the low income uninsured population in the Laurel Highlands region of Western PA. A person may receive free doctor check-ups, free medicine, free X-rays, free blood tests, and a variety of other basic tests. Naloxone, also called Narcan and Evzio, an easy-to-use prescription medicine to reverse opioid overdose, is available free of charge, no questions asked. To be a patient at the Free Clinic a person cannot have any health insurance. He/she cannot have medical assistance from the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare or be eligible for Medicare. The person must have a photo ID and show proof of total household income. The person will be required to obtain a denial letter from the Medical Assistance Office within 90 days. The person will have an Intake appointment to determine if he/she is eligible for clinic services before seeing the doctor. Additional forms to fill out are available on the website. All appointments must be scheduled in advance.

    PA Law Project

    The PA Health Law Project works to ensure everyone has access to health care. Outside of advocating for the right to health care, the Law Project provides free legal services to any low-income resident of Pennsylvania having difficulty accessing publicly funded health care, whose health care has been terminated or reduced, or who have been denied Medicare (or similar health care programming). Additionally, the Law Project helps eligible residents apply for Medicare, responds to issues of denial of service (i.e. for prescriptions), and anyone struggling with their health care costs. The only requirement is income related, otherwise, the program is nondiscriminatory - there is a helpline which can be utilized for base information by anyone, regardless of income. If you are in need of assistance, please visit the food pantry on the first or third Friday of the month between 9:00 AM and Noon.
