The Adams County Office for Aging is a private non-profit agency dedicated to providing assistance to and advocacy for people age 60 and above within Adams County. Our mission is to assist people in maintaining independence and dignity within their own homes and communities. We offer a variety of services to support our age 60 and over population including; adult day care, senior centers, Lifeline systems, medical equipment loan, volunteer opportunities, tax preparation assistance, Medicare counseling, transportation, property tax and rent rebate assistance, protective services, legal services, and a variety of health and educational programs. For in-home care, individual can self-refer or a medical professional can refer as well. As for the other services, interested person should just call ahead and let them know they are coming.

Options/Care: Management Services for Independent Living
Options/Care Management, a program offered by the Family Services of Western Pennsylvania, is for individuals 60 years and older who need assistance remaining independent and living in their own homes. Care managers provide services based on a personalized assessment of the participant's psycho-social, environmental, and financial needs. Participants are eligible to receive home-delivered meals, resource counseling and support, monthly visits from a care manager, and more. Participants' families may also receive training and support through the Family Caregiver Support Program.

This resource provides private duty home care and home support services. All services are overseen by registered nurses. They can offer home support services and help with personal care, such as bathing, dressing and meal preparation, medication management, pet care, running errands, light housekeeping, and accompaniment services. Most insurance carriers including Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance plans will cover home healthcare that is deemed medically necessary.

The Fulton County Medical Center (FCMC) is a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation which owns and operates a 21-bed critical access hospital and 67-bed nursing home facility. Spanish American Civic Association (SACA)
The Spanish American Civic Association (SACA) offers extensive drug and alcohol services (both inpatient and outpatient), counseling services, HIV/AIDS services. At the Tec Centro, individuals are provided with services to remove any barriers that may inhibit career advancement by offering adults education completion, job readiness workshops, employment services, case management, bilingual training, and multiple career pathways. Among these career pathways are: CNA medical receptionist, medical billing, dental assisting, business and hospitality, construction, manufacturing, and general office (clerical). SACA also has a senior center which offers meals, various activities, and case management services (including housing placement and medical management) to individuals over 60. The West End Christian Community Center is the outreach ministry of Saint John's-Newberry UMC. The West End Community Center offers community meals, walker, canes, crutches, and wheelchair loans (depending on availability), an optical clinic (income requirements apply), and an Alcoholics Anonymous support group. There is also a food pantry for individuals who live in certain areas of Lycoming County (individuals are required to provide proof of income, birth dates, Social Security Numbers, and photo identification).
